References

Links
to pages on the internet become out of date quickly, however here are a
few sites I rely on for parts, information, ideas and advice:

Sources
- Zedder Enterprises-
these folks sell cross reference databases for motorcycle
parts -
this is invaluable when scavenging bits on eBay or
elsewhere. I have both the Yamaha and Suzuki databases from
Zedder, and highly recommend their products
- PowerSportsPro
- I find the parts lists and fiches offered on line here to be really
useful, the folks on the order desk are helpful, delivery is fast and I have yet to have a problem
- Walridge Motors
- these folks are a vintage British bike supply shop and also are the
Canadian Boyer-Bransden electronic ignition distributors - very
friendly, very helpful and also very customer focused
- Consolidated Motor Spares NL
- this is a Dutch company that also offers on-line parts
fiches
for many older bikes, and often can supply parts that are difficult to
get elsewhere
- Classic Suzuki Parts NL also in The Netherlands has an extensive selection of NOS and reproduction parts
- PartsNMore - quality is not always the greatest, but I
find these folks to have good prices, fast shipping and a reasonable
selection for the more common items
- Erik Potze
- he runs a small shop in the north of The Netherlands that specializes
in GT750 parts, as well as new manufactured parts. Expensive, but very
good quality. I bought my Gibson pipes from him.
- New factory
original pipes from Suzuki, or
factory reproduction exhaust systems are currently not available, so
unless you can locate some NOS items, non-original after market expansion pipe systems are your best option
if you need pipes. I bought a set of
Gibson
Exhausts
- not cheap, but they are beautiful and you can leave your centre
stand installed with them which I think is good. Another source for
GT750
exhausts is Jemco
Exhaust in Houston, and if you really want to spend a small
fortune there are the Italian Jollymoto systems available in The
Netherlands from 50cc
(at EURO 1709 or $2635 CDN a
set, I can see why at least someone would be 'Jolly' !).
- NOS pipes or good used ones can occasionally be found on eBay, or from Paul Miller in
the USA. PM has a fairly wide range of NOS, re-manufactured and
reproduction parts (he doesn't always say they they are reproduction by
the way so you need to check), but the biggest selection of GT750
parts seems to be available from GTReiner in Germany - just email him for a current price list, or click here
to download a copy.. When looking at the parts list, the parts showing
a 'Z' are reproduction and those with an 'R' are
re-manufactured items.
- Manuals
- one would think that a Suzuki factory shop manual would be the best
source of information, but I have one, and I seldom use it. My main
GT750 reference book is the
Haynes Suzuki 750, 3 Cylinder Models, Owners Workshop Manual
(ISBN 85696 302 X), which has been out of print for several years - you
can still find copies for sale occasionally via on-line book stores
and on eBay - just Google for it and see what hits you get.
- There
is a Clymer Suzuki repair manual which is still in print, but
generally I think it is useless - both the Haynes and the Clymer
manuals have the same number of pages, but the Haynes
manual just
covers the GT750, and the Clymer one covers the GT380, GT550 and the
GT750. There is much more detail, photos and useful information in the
Haynes manual if you can find a copy - recommended.
- I
did contact Haynes to ask whether they plan to re-print the
GT750 manual - they were very polite, but so far no results so feel
free to contact them here
either by email or by phone. Perhaps if enough people demonstrate an
interest they will reconsider.
- if
you do opt for the Clymer version for the GT750 - try to find one from the early
1980's, as Chapter 9 was removed from later releases - Chapter 9 had
all the interesting bits on performance tuning etc., and while the
sources referenced are non-existent today, the information is useful as
a reference
- Manuals for other Suzuki models are occasionally available on-line if you
look - one good source of information is the Australian Ozebook
site where all the dealer/factory service bulletins
are available. CD's with Suzuki service manuals can also be ordered, and there
is lots of other information and photos to be found there also -
recommended.
- Caswell
Electroplating - for tank lining kits, metal refinishing etc. (American link is here)
- Cycle Chaos - a great source of information on all things 2 wheeled
- Oregon Motorcycle Parts for new, reasonably priced solid state voltage regulators and new rectifiers
- try Allan Tucker for Suzuki gauge restorations

Services
- Consolidated
Compressor - in the Calgary area at least, this is the place
for do-it-yourself sandblasting by the hour. Recommended.
- Cactus Machine Ltd. - this
is a small machine shop in Calgary willing to do one off, custom
machining. They made the actuator bell crank for my rear brake
master cylinder assembly and I really appreciated the time that the
owner -
Roy Hansen - took to make sure it would both look right, and
also
work properly
- The Welding Shop in Calgary -
these folks did the welding on my tank and frame, and I'm happy with
how it looks - recommended.
- eBay
- of course. Although first check with your local dealer to be sure you
don't bid for more than what they are available for over the counter -
it is sometimes surprising what can still be purchased from the OEM
suppliers.
